ROUND 8 Cadwell Park

BSB Round 8 August 17th-19th

For round 8 of the British Superbikes, Jamie and the team headed to Cadwell Park circuit located in Lincolnshire, this round is often known as the "party in the park" where large crowds of fans descend for the weekend.

Jamie was feeling a little less positive heading into round 8 as he had been unable to complete any testing at Cadwell and had seen that lots of the others riders had been recently. Never the less going into free practice 1 Jamie was still completing competitive lap times and ended the session 4th fastest. Some big changes were made to the bike going into free practice 2 as Jamie felt something was missing, unfortunately in the early stages of the session Jamie had a small slide off which ended his track time for the day.

The team repaired the damage to the bike ready for Saturdays qualifying session, Jamie still commented the bike felt uncomfortable following this session although he did complete a lap time placing him 6th bike on the grid (5th Supersport) for the sprint race later in the day.

Going into the race Jamie did not have a great start and over taking at Cadwell is notoriously difficult. Another rider had a major mechanical failure infront of Jamie causing him to lose touch with the leading pack. Jamie finished the race 5th Supersport - but something still didn't feel right with the bike.

The team stripped the bike and found the issue so Jamie went into Sunday feeling confident with the bike again

2 laps into warm up and unfortunately it began to rain due to a passing shower which ended play for Jamie.

Jamie went into the feature race starting on the grid in 8th position but again the problems of passing at the narrow circuit meant that Jamie, although he had the pace of the leaders was unable to progress to make any challenges for a podium position therefore he decided to gain the points of 6th place.

Quotes from Jamie:

"I feel like its been a tough weekend but I've managed to come away with a 5th and a 6th which is a solid result but I know I can be dicing for podium positions which is where I hope to be back to at the next round"
