ROUND 12 Brands Hatch GP

BSB Round 12 Brands Hatch GP October 12th - 14th

The year has completely flown by and already it was time to head off for round 12 of the British Superbikes the final outing of the season, Jamie and the team headed to the Brands Hatch GP circuit in Kent, the team had visited the GP circuit earlier in the year for round 6 and Jamie had shown to be very competitive at the track.

Friday morning started cold, damp and patchy so Jamie decided to sit out of first practice as the risk to himself and the bike were so high. Free practice two was dry and the weekend got underway for us. Jamie knew where he wanted to start with settings on the bike from earlier in the year and after a couple of small suspension changes he finished 6th overall.

Saturday was a beautiful sunny day albeit very windy! Qualifying in the morning started great and Jamie was fast straight out the gate, sitting in p1 for the majority of the session. After changing to a new rear with 10 minutes left he never got a good stab at another hot lap on the new tyre due to traffic problems. Jamie still happily walked away with p5 and more importantly a second row start.

The 10 lap sprint race started at 16:45 but was red flagged following an incident with 2 riders on lap 3. After the track had been cleared the race was re run over just 8 laps. Jamie secured a good start the second time around and after an aggressive first couple of corners was sitting in 4th position, however a rider in front of Jamie had jumped the start so received a ride through penalty gifting Jamie another position. The front 2 riders pulled away slightly but at the same time Jamie was able to gap the rest of the field. On lap 4 and 5 Jamie was lapping faster than the front 2 and started to close them back down, and the team were then hoping for a pole position start in Sunday's feature race which would have also meant that Jamie would receive the gift of a pole position watch which would have been the second one of the season, Jamie was successful in getting the gap down to less than 1 second but his efforts weren't good enough to catch them and had to settle for 3rd place, and a last lap dice between the front 2 riders also by just tenths of a second meant he succumbed to a third place start for Sundays race. This was still a brilliant result and Jamies 4th podium of the 2018 season.

On Sunday it seemed winter had arrived over night, it was absolutely freezing and didn't stop raining all day, Jamie ended up tipping off in the treacherous conditions on the warm up lap.

Quotes from Jamie:
"Although I made a stupid mistake on Sunday, I wasn't the only one and it didn't dampen my spirits of how the year has gone. I think I have really good out right pace but just need to work on my luck!"
